One of the most fascinating elements of the Everest season is the contributions of the Sherpas. Without them, there would be no Everest season, i.e. a time of year when many people and teams descend upon base camp to make a summit attempt. Within the Sherpas are a particular group called the “Ice Doctors,” who are responsible for putting ladders and rope in place specifically in the Khumbu ice fall but also elsewhere on the mountain. They do this in the face of considerable danger. One of the better known members of this team passed away in late January: Ang Nima Sherpa. More can be learned here at ExplorersWeb.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of late Mr. Ang Nima Sherpa and pray to God for the eternal peace of the departed soul.” – Ang Tshering Sherpa
